what is prayer?

why prayer is important

As we share our heart with God, give Him thanks & praise, and bring our requests to Him we grow closer to Him. This is the very purpose of our lives: to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

Also, somehow God uses our prayers to work out His amazing plan of redeeming the world.
“…praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel.”
Eph. 6:18-20

God wants us to pray:
  • To be close with Him
  • To experience His peace
  • Because He uses our prayer to build His Kingdom

what is prayer?

Any relationship requires two-way communication. It is the same with our relationship with God. He communicates with us as the Holy Spirit enlightens our minds when we study God’s word. We communicate with God through prayer. That’s basically what prayer is – communicating with God.

It is also an opportunity to tell God how much we love and adore Him, thank Him for His many blessings, and bring our requests to Him. We need God for absolutely everything and prayer is a way to express our dependence on Him.

Prayer is:
  • Sharing your heart with God
  • Worship
  • Thanksgiving
  • Dependence one God
